Walter Buttrick was born outside of Boston, MA. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston with concentration in painting and printmaking and further studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. Professionally, Walter worked in the point of purchase display industry with a number of designs and patents to his credit. Additionally, he is a retired veteran with a career as an Army officer.
As a printmaker, he has exhibited throughout the USA. His work is in the Connecticut Historical Society and in private collections in Europe, New Zealand and the USA. From his studio in Norwalk, CT, Walter has generated a volume of etchings, dry points, wood engravings and linoleum block prints, typically pushing the limits of each technique. He is a member of the Boston Printmakers, the Society of American Graphic Artists, the Albany Print Club and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, Connecticut.
