George was killed by a drunk driver in July 1981. Never happy with conventionality, he learned as he lived, and was one of the lucky ones who could easily climb "out of the box" with thoughtful, valid, often acerbic observations. I vividly remember learning to rebuild car engines with him (yes, they were all successful). He was a true friend, probably a better friend than I'm capable of being. I miss our conversations and wonder where his mind would be if he was alive now.
