Jim Brown

Jim Fay, 67, died after a lengthy illness, in Needham on November 19, 2015. He was born on February 9, 1948 and grew up in Needham with his parents Marge and Ernie Fay, and his older sister Kiki (Janice). He graduated from Needham High School with the class of 1966 and earned his BA at Villanova University.

He married classmate Sherrie Clock, literally "the girl next door." They barely knew each other during high school despite the proximity of their houses, and began dating after college. They shared identical birth dates and lived in Norfolk until Sherrie's death in 2010.

Jim worked at Taylor's Stationary for years, and then as a manufacturer's representative for many years with stationery supplies and later was principal in James L . Fay associates and later 'The Cane Gent', selling and making finely crafted canes of his own creation and others.

His great passions were sailing, birdwatching, and nature in general. Until health problems made it impossible, Jim spent as much time as he could sailing with Sherrie and friends in Rhode Island, where he moored his sailboat "Connemara."

Jim is survived by his sister Janice (Kiki) Neely and her husband Tim of Newton MA. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday November 24. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114.

Jimmy was my very first boyfriend back in Kindergarten at Mitchell school.  I still have his picture in the little white shirt and bow tie.  He ws a good friend throughout elementary school, junior high and high school.  We spoke a few times during the last few years and I know how much he missed Sherry.  God Bless Jim......may he rest happily in peace with Sherry.
